The Painkiller Epidemic and the Economy

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) "Enough prescription painkillers were prescribed in 2010 to medicate every American Adult around-the-clock for a month."

"Nearly 100 American citizens die from prescription painkillers everyday or 36,500 a year"

Painkiller abuse results in more deaths than cocaine and heroine combined. Since 1999, prescription overdoses has increased 300%. With these numbers on a steady rise, by 2025 there will be nearly 200,000 overdoses a year. The drugs are being abused by all ages, from pre-teens to senior citizens. In 2010 nearly 2 million people reported using prescription painkillers non-medically for the first time within the last year.

This painkiller epidemic is not only affecting the users, it has a negative impact on our economy as well. Just like most drugs, opiates are extremely addictive. These users will do whatever it takes to obtain the drug, no matter what the negative outcome may be. Whether it is committing burglaries, robberies, thefts, or homicides.

Medicaid and Medicare fraud related to prescription drug use is costing the American tax payers hundreds of millions of dollars a year. This is a major problem according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

As an example, Medicare beneficiary in Texas received prescriptions for a total of 4,574 hydrocodone pills (a 994-day supply) from 25 different doctors, reported by the New York Times.

The chemical dependency from opiates results in extreme withdrawal symptoms. Depending on the person, these symptoms may include:

  • Nausea
  • Cold Sweats
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Unbearable body aches and pain
  • Mood changes - Anger/Anxiety/Depression
  • Restless Legs
  • Insomnia
Opiate addicts can acquire these pills in many different ways, legally and illegally. In 2010, the CDC conducted a survey on how these prescription pills were obtained . The following pie graph shows the results.

Pie chart showing that people who abuse prescription painkillers get their drugs from a variety of sources: 55% obtained free from a friend or relative, 17.3% were prescribed by one doctor, 11.4$ were bought from a friend or relative, 4.8% were taken from a friend or relative without asking, 4.4% were obtained from a drug dealer or stranger, and 7.1% accounted for other sources.

Some users get multiple prescriptions by Doctor Shopping. According to Wikipedia, doctor shopping refers to the practice of a patient requesting care from multiple physicians, often simultaneously, without making efforts to coordinate care or informing the physicians of the numerous caregivers. By doctor shopping, the patient can obtain numerous prescriptions of painkillers. These prescriptions are usually sold on the Black Market or "streets" because of their high demand and huge profit margins.

Doctor shopping is illegal, but, there are many private practice doctors that benefit from these individuals. These particular physicians are crooked, and normally charge a flat fee for the visit and an inflated price for the prescription itself. Both parties are subject to significant criminal and civil penalties. Potential charges may include drug trafficking, possession of an illegal substance, unlawful distribution, and in the case of "over-prescribing doctors", manslaughter.

The amount of crime, deaths, and fraud this drug causes should have our Nation and Government on high alert. This drug causes more than 3 times the amount of deaths per year than guns and is also a contributing factor to gun violence. I believe we should be looking for more solutions to reduce the abuse of this drug. If the Government is going to spend hard earned tax payer money on something, they should spend it more efficiently. Instead of spending millions of dollars on more gun control laws, why not spend the money on cutting down on illegal prescription drug usage. This in result, will help cut down on crime, deaths, and government spending.

If you've read my Blog before, I often refer to the Economy. The way I see it, the Economy is a starting point, which will lead to homicides, suicides, gun violence, government spending, etc. being vastly reduced. Why not dedicate our time and energy to a cause that is going to result in a "Domino effect?" It's time our Government wakes up! So, President Obama, my advice to you is, think LONG TERM, think EFFICIENCY, and think SMART!

US Foreign Aid to Egypt

According to multiple sources, the United States has given Egypt a gift of 20 F-16 fighter jets, and 200 Abrams tanks. When delivered, this will make Egypt's Air force the 4th largest F-16 operator in the World. The US also gives Egypt $1.3 Billion in Federal Aid annually.

The F-16 is one of the most advanced and sophisticated fighter jets in the World. This is an all-around multi role aircraft, capable of air-to-air and air-to-ground combat. It's defense system is equipped with a 20mm Gatling cannon, rockets, missiles, and bombs.

The M1 Abrams tank has been used in the U.S. since 1980, when it was first introduced. Just like any other American made defense weapons, this tanks specifications are constantly upgraded to keep up with the newest in technology. It is heavily armored and is equipped with 2 primary guns and 3 secondary guns which are capable of being fired while traveling at speeds of up to 45 mph.

These 2 weapons of warfare are extremely dangerous, not only to the US, but our Allies as well. The Obama Administration is constantly and consistently using poor judgement in choosing what is best for our Country. According to a White House spokesperson, "The Obama Administration seeks to maintain a strategic partnership with Egypt that enhances the security and peace of the region." Now correct me if I'm wrong, but, donating such weapons to a Country that is not considered an ally is downright ignorant, careless, and insane!

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has given mixed signals about the Egyptian-American relationship from the start. In reaction to Obama's 2009 speech in Cairo, Morsi said "Obama was very clear when he uttered his empty words on the land of Egypt" followed by "He uttered many lies, of which he couldn't have fulfilled a single word, even if he were sincere, which he is not." In 2010, Morsi attacked Obama for supporting Israel. Now I ask you, do these sound like the words of an American Ally? My answer to you is NO! I see no "Strategic partnership" between the U.S. and Egypt. If our strategy is to arm a Nation and Government that is dominantly controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood, who is against the beliefs of the Western civilization, (America) then I am sadly mistaken on the definition of a strategic partnership.

The American people and Israel should be incredibly irate that the Obama Administration followed through with this "gift" to Egypt. These Government handouts are coming at the expense of the U.S. tax payers. American tax dollars should not be given to any Country whose President stands with terrorists. Not only does Mohammed Morsi support the Muslim Brotherhood, he also has taken Executive actions preventing any court from overturning his decisions. In result, this will allow him to run his Country as he pleases, until a new Constitution is drafted.

The U.S. arming Egypt with Military weapons is the equivalent of a Mother giving her Sons bully a knife before a fight. With Israel being a U.S. ally, there is nothing good that can come from this transaction. As Israel continues to feud with Hamas, which is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, some fear that these weapons may be used in an attack on Israel. According to Fox News, Law makers stated, "Even if President Morsi has softened his stance, it makes no sense to arm his Islamist government with weapons that could one day be used against Israel or even Egyptians." I couldn't agree more.

I believe this could also have a negative impact on the relationship between the United States and Israel. The only word that can describe this situation is traitor. President Obama is laying Israel's trust on the line for what? To establish a "strategic relationship" with a country that is extremely unstable and has already stated their resentment for our President and Nation. Israel is already a trusted and important ally to the United States. They play a major role in our Governments policy in the Middle East. We are engaged in extensive strategic, political, and military cooperation. This includes intelligence sharing and joint military exercises. Without this relationship our influence in the Middle East will be greatly reduced.

Sandy Hooks "Hoax" Massacre

I am writing this post to show the inconsistency's and problems within the media, coroner, and law enforcement agencies reports on the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. I will provide facts and hard evidence in links at the bottom of the page.

The day of the Newtown massacre, the first reports I encountered while watching the news is that an unidentified shooter had committed a massacre at a school killing a number of children and adults and then killed himself. The Police recovered handguns from the scene and a Bushmasters AR-15 .223 in the trunk of his vehicle. Now, keep in mind that the coverage of this story was highly inaccurate and the facts were changed several times during the day.

By the next day, the  Federal government seemed to have taken control of the situation and it was announced that it was a .223 AR-15 that was used to kill the 20 children and 6 adults. As of today, the report that a AR-15 was used to commit this massacre still stands.

The .223 and/or 5.56mm is a Military round and it's success is going on 50 years. The military incorporated this round into the M-16 and M-4. Later, a civilian version of this gun was developed, the AR-15. Muzzle velocities of this gun have been measured at 3200 fps (feet per second) and have massive ft. lbs of energy behind them. In ballistics gelatin, the rounds fired from a M-16/M4/AR-15 have been known to travel 18" or more, the average is around 12". This all depends on what type of rounds were fired.

The image below shows 8 different .223/5.56 steel rounds that were fired in ballistics gel. According to wikipedia.com, ballistics gel is a testing medium scientifically correlated to swine muscle tissue (which is comparable to human muscle tissue) in which the effects of bullet wounds can be simulated.

Taking the results of this image into consideration, a child that was shot from a distance of 10 yards/30 ft in the chest from a .223 Assault rifle would also exit the body. I am a 27 year old male, 6'3", 170 pounds. I took a measurement of the depth of my body (chest to back) and my body is about 11.5" deep. The children in the Sandy Hook massacre were between the ages of 6-11, whose bodies were nowhere near as deep as 11.5." This means that if one of these children were shot in the chest with this type of gun, the odds are the bullet would have exited through the back.

Also take note, depending on the type of round used, some of these bullets broke apart into small pieces. The common .223 round weighs around 5.5 grams. One of the handguns that were recovered in the shooting was a 9mm SIG Sauer P226. The common 9mm round weighs 7.5 grams. If the bullet does not have enough velocity to shoot through a victim or it comes in contact with bones, it will break apart causing multiple fragments or "shrapnel."

Now, I will discuss where all this bullet information comes into play with the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary.

1.) The veteran medical examiner told reporters that the victims had all been identified and their bodies released. In what appeared to be an uncomfortable moment for Carver, he said "all of the victims he had examined had all been shot by a Bushmaster .223 caliber assault rifle", one of at least two weapons Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old suspected shooter, used to commit one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history.

2.) Carver, who performed autopsies on seven of the victims, said the wounds he knew about were caused by a "long weapon." Asked by a reporter whether the rifle was the primary weapon, he responded, "Yes."

Those were 2 statements taken from the Coroner. Now, in order to claim that the AR-15 was used to murder these individuals, the coroner had to of recovered bullets from these victims. These high velocity rounds penetrated children that had weak bones and very little, if any, muscle mass. In reference to the image above, the bullets would have exited these children in fragments or a compressed chunk of lead/metal. The percentage of weight retained after a bullet hits a target depreciates as it breaks apart or is "ground down."

According to the coroners report, these children were shot multiple times. If the reports are wrong, and a .223 AR-15 was not used and in fact it was either the SIG Sauer 9mm or 10mm Glock, how do you determine what size bullet was recovered from the victims? Handguns are lower velocity guns with higher caliber rounds opposed to a AR-15. This lower velocity means that the bullets will travel through a human body slower and in result, will have more time to expand or break into small fragments. There is no way to tell AR-15 bullet fragments from 9mm bullet fragments. The only possible way to differentiate the 2 is by weighing the recovered bullet. The spent shell casing will tell us what brand/kind of round was used, then we can determine the weight of the bullet itself. Like I previously stated, an AR-15 bullet weighs about 5.5 grams and a 9mm bullet weighs about 7.5 grams, so if the recovered bullet is over 5.5 grams we can determine it is, in fact a 9mm round.

In conclusion, I do not believe that the AR-15 was used in the Sandy Hook massacre. All of the homicides took place in classrooms or at close range. So, the probability of the children being shot with such a high velocity weapon such as an AR-15 and the bullets not exiting the bodies is not likely! I believe that the Federal Government/Obama is using this massacre as a front to push new gun laws. With a major incident like the Sandy Hook massacre taking place, it provides the government the press coverage to fabricate a story to enrage many already anti-gun citizens and groups. I do believe that is only the start of the war on guns!

Gun Control - Will it make a difference?

Bill Clinton to Democrats

I am going to start this post out by discussing Bill Clinton's speech to the Obama National Finance Committee. Clinton is right on point when he says "A lot of these people live in a world very different from the world lived in by the people proposing these things." followed by "I know because I come from this world." Clinton, you couldn't have said this any better.

I also live in this "world", as does many of my family members and friends. When you grow up with guns, it becomes a lifestyle or, a way of life.

As I write these posts, I try to be fair and look at both sides of the story. I feel for the parents and families of the Sandy Hook massacre and any other family that is mourning the death of a loved one because of gun violence. I have also lost a loved one to a firearm. Granted, the situation was much different, being it was a suicide and not a homicide. But, none the less, a gun still caused the fatality. The other difference is, I chose to look at it in a different way than most would. I didn't blame the gun, I blamed him. This does not apply to all gun violence cases though.

In reference to the quotes, "If there is a will, there is a way" and "Anything is possible if you set your mind to it." If you've read some of my previous posts on my blog, I discuss holding the person responsible for their actions. To quote the NRA, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." This is true! If someone is determined to cause bodily harm or death to another individual, it is going to take place. Whether this is by gun, knife, bomb, poison, hammer, etc.

I believe the answer is not in banning guns or decreasing the amount of ammunition a magazine can hold. I do believe in making it more difficult for VIOLENT felons and mental health patients to obtain guns legally. The reason I wrote VIOLENT in all capital letters is because, all felons are not violent and should not be punished for "failure to pay child support" or any other non-violent felonies. I do believe in enforcing the gun laws we already have in place.

Some of the Executive actions that President Obama has put in place are pointless and a waste of time and money. There are other ways to reduce gun violence other than trying to ban Assault Rifles or reducing the amount of ammunition the magazine can hold.

There are also ways to reduce gun violence without punishing the good, law abiding gun owners. We should focus more on the violent criminals, the mental health community, and the economy.

For example, the penal system. One time offenders that serve time in prison not only pay for their crime by going to prison, they also pay for their crime when they are released from prison. I believe that an individual should not be punished for their crime for the rest of their life, which in all reality, they do. There are some cases in which they should, rape, murder, etc. Most people don't understand how this one single crime on their record will affect the rest of their life. For these individuals, finding a job is next to impossible. This, in result, causes some of these offenders to do what it takes to survive, whether it is by robbery, burglary, or selling drugs. Lets be real here, most of us have committed crimes or, broke the law in some way. The difference between us and them is that they got caught, we didn't.

Our economy, pretty much the same idea. If we could fix our economy and produce more jobs for the American people that are currently unemployed, this will not only cut Government spending by reducing the amount of welfare and medicaid recipients but, it will also reduce street crime. A high percentage of gun violence is because of drug deals, robberies, and burglaries gone bad. Face it, money does make the world go round! With our economy in such a weak state and jobs being so scarce, these good people are resulting to illegal activities.

Take a few minutes and ask yourself this question, "If I have exhausted all possible ways to feed myself and my children, would I do WHATEVER it took to make sure they are well nourished and have a roof over their head?"

As a Country, we need to stop being so self centered and greedy! Let's get together and help these people! Donate a quarter to charity, buy the homeless man outside McDonalds a cheeseburger, pay the guy standing on the side of the highway with a "Will work for food sign" to mow your grass, or take a chance and hire a felon. When our Country comes together and starts to do this kind of stuff more, I believe it will be more effective than any gun law! I know this is just my opinion, but, it's worth a try.

My answer to the question, will gun control make a difference? No, I don't think so. Adding more laws to the laws already in place is not going to impact gun violence. Criminals do not obey the law, that is why they're called criminals. The executive actions taken by our President are not going to decrease any of the factors that lead to violence itself.

PLEASE, post your comments and your thoughts on this subject! Thanks for reading!

Violence - Who is responsible?

The inspiration for this post comes from the recent proposal to add a 1% tax on violent video games. Before I discuss my opinion on violent video games I would like to discuss violent behavior in children and adolescents.

Children as young as preschoolers have been known to show violent behavior and there are a number of factors that could contribute and/or increase this risk. This violent behavior in children and adolescents can include a wide range of behaviors: explosive temper tantrums, physical aggression, fighting, threats, use of weapons, cruelty towards animals, and intentional destruction of property. There may be more, but, from the top of my head these are the main concerns. Each of these behaviors I have witnessed at some point in children as young as 4 years old. Some may even develop violent behavior at an earlier age.

This violent behavior could result from a number of different factors. It may be caused by 1 complex interaction or a numerous combination of factors. This may include:

  • Being the victim of physical or sexual abuse
  • Exposure of violence in the home and/or community
  • Genetic (family heredity) factors
  • Exposure to violence in media (TV, movies, video games, etc.)
  • A combination of stressful feelings (poverty, severe deprivation, marital breakup, single parenting, loss of support from family, etc.)
  • Brain damage from head injury
  • Birth defects
  • Health problems

Now, to discuss video games and their impact/influence on children and adolescents. I do agree that violent video games such as Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, etc. may impact a child/adolescents brain in negative ways. But, all forms of media can have this same influence, even most children's cartoons contain some sort of violence. For the Government to blame violence on guns and video games is just plain ignorant. I believe the parents of these children should be to blame. The only way these children can obtain these video games are if their parent or someone over the age of 17 purchases it for them. I, myself, play Call of Duty online and I can't tell you how many children play this game that are as young as 8 years old. If your child/children are showing warning signs of violent behavior you need to monitor the viewing of violent media. If you don't step up and be a PARENT, you have no one to blame but yourself. I grew up playing these video games, as did my little brothers and we didn't turn out violent.

Why add an extra 1% tax on violent video games? Well, the States that are proposing these taxes say the purpose is to "fund treatment for mental health conditions associated with exposure to violent video games." But, this tax does not apply just to violent video games, it also applies to games such as Dance Central and Guitar Hero. According to the Bill, violent video games are defined as any game containing an ESRB rating of Teen (T) or Mature (M).

Here is where the problem lies with this tax proposal. How do you come to the conclusion that these mental health conditions resulted from playing violent video games? These conditions could result from any of the factors that I previously stated. Yes, this tax, if passed, will go to a good cause. But, I believe that violent video games are being singled out as one of the major causes of violence. It's time to step up and stop putting the blame on video games and guns, and take responsibility for ourselves and children. Humans begin to differentiate right from wrong in most cases by 7 years old. We usually begin to make judgements based on this sense of right and wrong by age 9, in some cases younger or older. According to the legal system, children have the ability to tell right from wrong by age 15 (depending on the state you live in) so if they commit a crime, they will be held responsible for their actions.

So, my question to you is, how come video games and guns are being blamed for violence and the individual themself aren't being held responsible for their actions?

Please think about this and comment. I would like to hear your opinions!

Gun Control and the Debt Ceiling

Once again, another Obama scheme to make it seem as if he cares. I believe, like with any Obama plan, he has ulterior motives. Similar to Obamacare, there are hidden objectives in the Presidents agenda. In the following, I am going to discuss some of the problems with the executive actions that Barack Obama has put in place.

Congress and the President have been looking for a way to cut Government costs. If this does not happen, the United States WILL fall into another great depression. Obama's administration is proposing to raise the US debt ceiling. Under US law, an administration can only spend money if it has sufficient funds to pay for it. Tax receipts or borrowing from the US Treasury is the only ways to obtain these funds. If Congress fails to increase the debt ceiling, this would result in the administration being unable to fund all the spending which it was required to do so by prior acts of Congress. At this point, the government must cancel or delay some spending, also known as partial government shut down. Obama also stated that, if an agreement on raising the debt ceiling does not take place shortly, the US would enter sovereign default. If this happens, it would create an international crisis on financial markets or as I previously stated, a great depression.

Now to get back on topic here. The executive actions President Obama just signed on gun control are going to cost the Government $500 million, therefore, this is going to either raise the taxes of US citizens or the Government must borrow money from the US Treasury. If Congress does not raise the debt ceiling, the US Treasury will not loan the US money. So, the government is going to resort to their other option, raising the taxes of US citizens. This is something that the President was against when campaigning for his 2nd term. This is yet, another, I told you so to Obama supporters. If Congress, which is majority Republican, does not raise the debt ceiling, the President and Democrats are going to blame the Republican party saying that we should be held accountable for the US entering sovereign default. If this debt ceiling proposal is passed, it will put the US in debt further than it already is.

The following graph clearly demonstrates which party is destroying America and sending our Nation into sovereign default.

What are the consequences of not raising the US debt ceiling for the rest of the World?

If our debt limit is not raised, this will cause the Government to default on it's legal obligations. This includes not paying Social Security and Medicare benefits, military salaries, interest on our debt, etc. As of May 2011, 40% of US Government spending relied on borrowed money. Now I would like you to take a second to think about how fast and how in debt you would be if 40% of the money you spent was borrowed? You would, without a doubt, have to eventually file for bankruptcy. These effects outside the US would be likely because the United States is a major trading partner with many countries. Countries that trade with the US on "Credit" could demand repayment. If this happens, where is the money going to come from?

In conclusion, I believe our President, Barack Obama, needs to stop wasting our hard earned money on ridiculous research into the causes of gun violence. "I will direct the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to go ahead and study the best ways to reduce it" said Mr. Obama during his gun speech. Mr. President, we know what causes gun violence... these reasons are always going to exist, no matter what precautions we take to "try" to prevent them. Violence occurs in every Nation, whether it is by gun, knife, bomb, poison, etc. This has been taking place since the beginning of time and there is no action that can take place that is going to prevent it. Yes, we can possibly lower these statistics. But, can we do it without our country becoming bankrupt? I think not! Before we focus and dedicate our time and money on trying to control violence, we need to focus on our Economy. As the saying goes, "You can't help anyone else until you help yourself."

More to come on gun control. If you agree with my views, please share my blog!

Also: Please vote on the poll "Are Americans better off now than 4 years ago"
I know this question has already been polled. But I would like input after the election.

Obamacare - Is it worth it?

I am writing this post about Obamacare because Democrats act like this is the best program the US Government and President Obama have ever implemented into the system. Personally, I believe it is the worst program ever implemented in the system!

This healthcare act was supposedly designed to reduce overall health care costs by making services available to the 32 million citizens who currently can't get insurance. The way I see it, this is nothing other than a myth.

Anyone would be able to obtain discounted health insurance either through private companies or through their place of employment (Given they are employed). For the people that can't afford health insurance, the Federal Government will pay the States to add them to Medicaid. Here is where the problem lies. On June 28, 2012 the Supreme Court struck down the mandate that States must add people to Medicaid. Some States may still decide to take advantage of this portion of Obamacare because the Federal Government will take care of the Bill for the first several years. Only 5 States have decided to "take advantage" of this.

The major myth people don't realize about Obamacare, it does not GIVE you health insurance, it simply FORCES you to pay for it. You ask, how is the Government going to make me pay for health insurance if I don't want to? Don't worry, they can't make you pay for insurance, but, they can tax you for not buying it. That's right, The Supreme Court mandated that it was unconstitutional to allow the Federal Government to implement a commercial enterprise such as health insurance. But, the mandate was approved anyways because it was considered a tax, which is within the constitutional right of Congress. These changes will be implemented by 2014 and the 32 million people that currently don't have health insurance will be mandated to buy insurance or face a tax or penalty. So, either way, starting in 2014 you WILL have to either purchase health insurance or face a penalty for not paying for it unless you live in the 5 States that have decided to mandate Medicaid if you are within 133% of the poverty level.

These 5 States that are going to mandate Medicaid are eventually going to raise taxes to pay for the extra citizens enrolled in the program. So not only will the employed US Americans have to pay for health insurance, they will also be paying taxes to support Food Stamps recipients and the extra citizens enrolled in Medicaid.

The tax that will be implemented in 2014 for those who do not wish to purchase health insurance will be 1% of your adjusted gross income. These numbers will rise to 2% in 2015 and 2.5% in 2016. However, there is a minimum amount you can be taxed. It cannot be less than a base fee for every adult. This base fee is $95 in 2014, $395 in 2015, and $695 in 2016. So this means, a married couple that does not purchase health insurance by 2014 will have to pay a minimum of $190 in taxes/penalties. If they do not purchase health insurance by 2015 they will have to pay a minimum of $790, and so on. So, the logical and smart thing to do is to purchase health insurance by 2015. It seems to me that the Insurance companies, Government and Hospitals are going to benefit the most from Obamacare.

On the other hand, there are a couple pro's of Obamacare:

1. Insurance companies cannot deny children coverage for pre-existing conditions. This benefit will apply to everyone in 2014.

2. Parents can put their children that are up to age 26 on their health insurance plans.

In conclusion, this healthcare act is nothing more than a way to lower the US budget deficit by raising taxes and shifting cost burdens off the Hospitals and Government and forcing you to pick up the tab. Now Obama supporters, YOU'VE BEEN HAD! How do you feel now?

President Barack Obama's Gun Speech

As you all know, yesterday Obama had a Press Conference to talk about his gun control proposals and issues. There was something in this speech that without a doubt, made me extremely furious. If you didn't have the time to watch it or if you haven't heard about it, let me fill you in. As you probably know, the White House has received thousands of letters pertaining to the Sandy Hook massacre and gun control issues. President Obama picked 4 of these letters that just happened to be written by 3rd graders and he also invited these 4 young children to sit behind him during the speech. He then introduced the 4 children and one by one, read their letters. One child, whose name was Hinna, wrote, "I feel terrible for the parents who lost their children. I love my country, and I want everybody to be happy and safe."

Now, I have a serious problem with this. I believe that we should keep our children as innocent as possible for as long as possible. Some of you might think otherwise, and that's your opinion. You may say, well if we expose them to this violence and our cruel worlds ways early, they may have a better understanding of life as they get older. I completely disagree! Children's minds at this age are very fragile, easily influenced and aren't supposed to be exposed to violence, drugs, abuse, etc. For instance, take a child that was abused, or observed abusive behavior (violence). This child most likely is going to grow up thinking that this is normal and may be involved in an abusive relationship or possibly be prosecuted for Assault charges. Come on Obama, it's bad enough that these children have to witness and hear about these kinds of massacres. You don't have to further expose them to it. If you were trying to make a point and I don't know what point you were trying to make? You could have just read these letters without the children being present. Which brings me to another point. I'm pretty sure that these children didn't comprehend at least 75% of the nonsense that was taking place at this speech and if they did, they surely don't have the knowledge to understand if these are valid arguments. I, myself, believe that these children are now going to assume that just because the president says something, it has to be the right thing to do.

What are your views on this topic? Do you think President Obama was out of line here? Do you think it was a huge guilt trip to further influence us about gun control? Am I out of line here?

First off, I would like to dedicate my first Blog to Krystal Miller Robb. Without her I would have never even thought of making a Blog. Thanks Krystal!

Okay, now to get started. I am starting this Blog because of my pure outrage and disgust for what the US is becoming. I often think, "What is America coming to"? and "How did it get this way"? Well I'll tell you the most logical reason I can think of. God, God has been taken out of Schools, God has been taken out of the workplace, and God has been taken out of the US Government! Have you ever noticed that US currency no longer bears the phrase "In God We Trust"? Well, personally, I believe that America doesn't trust in God to solve their problems. I believe that Americans are looking for the Government to solve everything. Let me rephrase that statement, I believe Democrats are looking for the Government to solve everything. Now, I'm not saying that Republicans are perfect, because we're not. But, I believe we have morals and try our hardest to abide by them. I myself, don't trust the US government at the time. Our President, Barack Obama has lied and lied about lying and lied about lying about lying to every American, constantly and consistently. Yes I understand that everyone tells a little white lie every once in awhile. But, Mr. Obama, you took it to a whole new level. You are without a doubt, both a pathological and a compulsive liar.

Pathological liars lie because they are goal focused; they lie, cheat, and manipulate while not caring about who they hurt in the process.

Compulsive liars lie because telling the truth is uncomfortable with them and lying feels right. This may be because they are scared of the outcome and effects that telling the truth may have.

Never before in history has a nation so great fallen so far, so fast, as ours did on November 6, 2012. How could a country as great as the United States re-elect a President that has done absolutely nothing for our economy, our country, and our people? The only explanation I have for this is stupidity, ignorance, and INSANITY! Albert Einstein said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Using this definition, anyone who expects anything different from Barack Obama must surely be insane!

This brings me to the highly debated question "Are Americans better off than they were 4 years ago"? Well, lets start off with some facts and figures from 2009 and present.

National Debt

2009: 10.6 Trillion
Now: 16.4 Trillion
Treasurydirect.gov

Food Stamps

2009: 32.2 million people enrolled
Now: 47.7 million people enrolled
Bloomberg.com

Unemployment
2009: 7.8%
Now: 7.8% as of December, 2012
bls.gov

Median Household Income
2009: $54,983
Now: $50,964
Forbes.com

Gas Prices
2009: $1.85
Now: $3.30
eia.gov

Now with that said, you tell me, are Americans better off now than they were 4 years ago? I think not!
